Current Program: Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering
Institution: Fiji National University
Year of Study: Stage 3 (Second Year)
Expected Graduation: December 2027
A proud native of Nabila Village in Nadi, Adi Vane Sucunainarou Laveti is a high-achieving
mechanical engineering student at Fiji National University, where she currently holds a 3.88
GPA. Passionate about applying her education to support Fiji’s future infrastructure, Adi
Vane is paving the way for more young women in STEM.
Beyond the classroom, she’s active in student life and service. She participated in a hostel
cleaning campaign focused on hygiene improvement, volunteered as a project member for a
community initiative in March 2025, and represents her campus as a volleyball team player.
Raised by a single mother and grandmother, Adi Vane’s journey has been shaped by
financial hardship, resilience, and a steadfast commitment to building a better future for her
family and community. Her vision includes using engineering to solve local problems—such
as designing sustainable water systems, improving village infrastructure, and mentoring
students from similar backgrounds.
With the support of the SMA Scholarship, she is empowered to continue her studies without
the burden of financial constraints and with the inspiration to give back. Adi Vane’s story
reflects the very spirit of the Surfer’s Medical Association’s mission—to empower those
who serve their communities with skill, compassion, and vision.
